General stuff...
Have been away for a week or so, hence the lack of updates. Not that I'm great at posting updates that regularly anyway...! Whatever!
We went to Holt, a small town on the East Coast near Cromer & Sheringham if you're really interested! First time we've been there in good weather (T'was baking hot!). Usually it rains on us, which isn't so bad 'cos it's still a nice getaway but this time the weather really made it! I did manage a small amount of sunburn, mainly to the top of my head but otherwise I have a slight tan on my exposed bits... Plenty of white bits but we won't go into that! Bought a hat in the end... Watch out for Brokeback Jayson, coming soon!?
Also spent a few days back home in the garden, sunbathing, reading, listening to music, puzzling (Sudoku!) Was really nice and relaxing. Back to work last Monday though and it's been fairly busy ever since (and it's only Wednesday! Feels like that was weeks ago!)
Watched Englands first World Cup game on and off... Was too nice to spend the entire time inside! Wasn't over impressed with the performance... I expect better in games to come? Also watched the British Grand Prix (F1). Good to see Alonso wiping the floor with the Cheating Git Schumacher who deserves to have been kicked out of F1 following his Monaco stunt! Nice also to see Villeneuve in the points again... a point is a point!
Whilst away, I finished one book, read another and started a third...
Mister Monday (garth Nix) is really aimed at a younger audience me thinks but it's enjoyable all the same, in much the same way as the Necromancy books were (Abhorsen, etc...) I like the fact he's come up with concepts I've notread elsewhere and has constructed a whole other place for the adventures to take place, similar to our world but different enough for you to imagine the magic? Shall look forward to grim Tuesday & Drowned Wednesday which are awaiting me on the shelf!
Also read Blossom at the Mention of your Name by Fiona Cooper. The write up gave the impression of a love story against the odds (a fairly generic concept) but althoug the book itself steered away from the norms, it was pretty much garbage from about a quarter of the way in.The characters were flighty, queeny, fairy-faoggots of the worst kind. The sort of people I would want nothing to do with! The one reaosnable figure was written out half way through and although i kinda hoped he'd come back to rescue the story, the fantasy world engulfed the writer and we ended up painfully enduring a rather naff conclusion. Very disapointed.
Have started reading Light Out by Nick Wood. A Gay based detective thriller type...? Well, so far it's managed to focus far too heavily on the 'coming out' of one character and spent far too little time on the storyline, which could be interesting. I'm not giving up just yet, I've got some hopes of redemption as I hit the half way point but it's got to drastically improve to get any kind of thumbs up from me!
Have watched two parts of the Line of Beauty (adapted from the book by Alan Hollinghurst). Really good so far. Sexy, intruiging, scandalous...? Well, it's got enough elements for me to be looking forward to the next part (Which we've got stored on the Hard Drive Recorder & Freeview thingy...)
Also watching Big Brother religiously! Just can't get enoug of it this year! Definately a winning combination of housemates, though winning probably isn't the word for the majority of them! I figured Pete & Glyn for the title but public opinion puts Nicky fairly high up as a winner? I'm suprised, she's irritating as heck! Funny but irritating. The bitching and back stabbing has been monumental and will no doubt be what defines this years series. Oh, one final BB thing... 'Get Grace Out'! Ouch!
That's surely enough waffling from me. Should make up in part for the word drought lately... Will try and update again soon! Jxx

Hey it's Faren!
By a strange coincidence, I too just finished reading Mister Monday and Grim Tuesday. Really enjoyed them...now I have to buy the next two since the library doesn't have them. I really enjoy Garth Nix all around. Try Shade's Children if you want an interesting stand alone.
Thank you for the tip! Shall look out for the book! Have you also read the Abhorsen books? They're also excellent! Jxx
