Civilised

Next bit of big news, now that we've informed our nearest and dearest, I can tell the world too! D & I got a Civil Partnership last weekend. No big deal really, as we already held a large blessing / commitment ceremony six years ago but it does mean that we're recognised, in law, as a couple finally! We booked back in March but decided then we didn't want a fuss and so didn't tell family or friends, other than the two bestest buds who were to be our witnesses (rather than dragging random folk off the street!) Their baby also attended, but other than the registrars (one trainee who was really useless but funny!)the room was otherwise empty! We didn't really notice though. Too busy signing (in the wrong place) our certificates and also deed polls (We've gone double-barrelled!) Photo's in a local park followed then home for a nice home cooked meal and champagne, sparkling wine with fresh lime juice, more wine... And a very late night! Great day, very hot weather but a chilled mood! And lots of love! Jxx

Am annoyed that I missed both celebrations, you know - but so excited for you! *hugs* Double-barrelled? How posh! Better send me your new email address Mr!

Congratulations.:) If you don't mind me asking, what made you change your mind? You always said you didn't need a civil partnership.

Thank you all! :-)

Jan, having had a ceremony six years back and set up wills and trusts, legally, we didn't actually need the Civil Partnership although we would not have been classified as Next of Kin without in law. Although it wasn't totally necessary, it's nice to have the recognition. Generally though, because we weren't telling people beforehand, we've tried to deflect the question of whether we'd do it, which may have been why I gave a false impression ;-) Jxx
