Flippin' Instincts!
Our beloved pussycat, Eric, was pining for the outside world this morning and so I let him out into the garden as usual. He wasn't out long. Instead, he brought me a little present... Or rather, brought himself a toy!!
The poor little thing was obviously rather numbed by fear, barely moving, looking dopey... I now it's instinctual on the cats behalf but I felt I had to help the poor mite out and so removed our darling creature from the setting and (after taking a few photo's, as you do) scooped up this tiny thing and placed it under a bush out front (the cat had fetched it from the back garden so I figured it'd be safer in the front, where Eric doesn't go!)
Having taken the opportunity to nip to the shops whilst outdoors, I return to find the dumb Mousey-thing has crawled out from under the bush and back into plain view by our front door! Duh! Whilst the cat's instinct is to toy with and ultimately kill & eat small rodents, mine is to make sure it's ok... I therefore fashioned a small mouse house from a box, some tissue paper, a plastic lid for water and food and an opening to get out of when (if) it recovers... This I've placed back in the garden, hoping the creature will recognise the opportunity to recover in relative warmth and security...
If not, hell, the cat can have it! Jxx
