Campaigns...
You may have noticed the banner near top right on my blog which relates to the new Amnesty International campaign to stop the censorship of the internet throughout a number of countries. Whilst I'm no big political speaker or anything, I do support Human Rights (having fought for my own through Gay Pride marches) and would urge you to consider the message Amnesty International are trying to get across with their Irrepressible.info campaign and furthermore, support them where possible by adding the banner to your site perhaps? Click on the above image to access the website for more information.
The Gadget Show, a great, weekly tech show on the UK's Channel FIVE are campaigning for the introduction of free Wi-Fi coverage in town & city centres available to all. They argue that having Wi-Fi hotspots in major urban areas would improve tourism, encourage consumers and generally add to the business and economy of a town or city. Currently, we have to fork out for the privaledge of using hotspots and there are any number of companies hosting these making it even more difficult and expensive to get connected and stay connected. Trials in Bristol of the free service have however proved the worth of free Wi-Fi and we need to generate a countrywide response to this.. Click on the Gadget Show banner to read their arguments or click here to support the campaign directly.
