You probably think this blog is about you...
Whilst standing, semi-dazed in front of the bathroom mirror at 06.15hrs this cold August Sunday morning, it struck me as rather vain that we've got not one, not two but three different moisturisers ready and waiting to beautify our faces! Anti-fatigue, Anti-Dullness & Anti-Grease forms of the same brand (L'Oreal in this case) sit staring at me, begging to be applied to make me feel like I'm worth it all day...? Is this normal for guys nowadays?
The general advertising and media trend is towards men accepting their flaws (and ageing) and being prepared to meet the (chemical or surgical enhanced) challenges of staying young and beautiful whilst the brain ages disgracefully. There seem to be more and more adverts aimed at men, promoting a range of grooming beyond the razors, aftershaves & deodorants commercials that would have been the only visualised suggestion that men had any personal hygiene issues a few years back. Skin creams, scents, tanning lotions (and towels?) and even a hint of make-up now attacks us from the small screen and all those fashionable mens mags, which in themselves suggest a trend towards wanting to be with the in crowd.
I wonder if it all really makes any differnce? Do I feel worth it this morning with my Anti-Fatigue, underarm roll-on & teeth vibrated clean? Well, actually, yeah!
In other news:
Working the entire weekend (have I moaned abuot this enough already?) and yesterday suggested that today is gonna be tough! I'm holding the 'Medical Bleep' which means I'm kind of on-call for about 12 wards to help with clinical and staffing issues... Yesterday threw up a lack of hot water (the supply to the hospital was cut for nine hours!!), a lack of linen (had to source some emergency supplies) and various staffing crisis which were left barely resolved as the nursing bank failed to find us enough bodies to fill the vacant slots! Having the foresight to check todays staffing yesterday shows I'm probably in for a rough ride again today!!
New Kitchen Table UK Gather in less than two weeks. I've got mixed feelings about this. I'm a nervous, shy sort in unfamiliar company which doesn't really show in my on-line prescence. I'm heading there and sharing a room with friends but there're also going to be a few faces I don't know in the main crowd. I'm half tempted to leave them all in Scaryborough and sneak further up the coast to Whitby which is a spiritul tranquility!! Don't tell anyone!
Am working a lot of next week so might not get much blogging opportunity but I'll try and check in for ya's all! Hugs, Jxx
ps: No pics - PC won't let me upload for some reason!! Doh!
Bugging your brain like a stone in your shoe!

Yes, you're vain. Normal men don't have three moisturisers.. they don't have any! :p
